Holiday Cards

It’s officially the holiday season! That means so many things; warm, delicious beverages, Christmas lights, decorating and Christmas music. It also means you’ll probably start getting those holiday cards in the mail from family and friends. I have always loved sending Christmas cards. We have sent one out for each year of our marriage and it has normally accompanied an announcement of a big event like a birth or move, or both! However, living abroad has provided a new challenge for sending out holiday cards.

They now take much longer to get to their recipient, even using our DPO. So I found a solution! This year we used a card site that would send our cards for us! This year we used Tiny Prints. I have ordered cards from them a few times and love their products. They have beautiful cards at great prices. And they will print your envelopes, stamp them and send them off! This service costs just 35 cents plus postage, so just 82 cents extra per card. To me, that’s a great deal for not having to print or write up your envelopes, get stamps, stamp the envelopes and then send them off!

Today (Cyber Monday) Tiny Prints is offering up to 50% off all their products! Plus if you go through Ebates (a website I’ve used for years for cash back on purchases) you’ll earn 4% cash back! If you don’t already have an Ebates account you can get one here.

There are other sites that allow you to do this too.

Shutterfly will also send your cards for you. I’ve used Shutterfly on multiple occasions and find their cards to be nice as well. Shutterfly charges $1.02 extra per card to label your envelopes and mail them. So just a little more for shipping. But if you have some coupons it may make up for the extra cost. And you can also shop through Ebates for a whopping 10% off! Today for Cyber Monday they’re offering up to 50% off plus an extra 25% off!

Another site that I may be trying in the future is Postable. You can send postcards or regular cards and to send them you just pay the postage on top of the price of the card! So just 34 cents for postcards and 47 cents for cards. That’s pretty good! And they have this awesome software that will help you get the addresses you need. Simply send your friends and family a unique link and your address book on Postable will fill automatically. SWEET! And you can use Ebates to get an extra 5% back!

If you prefer to send custom cards for each recipient, Sincerely might be more your style! Sincerely is an app that allows you to make custom cards with photos from your phone and send them directly to the recipient. And the cards start at just $1.99 shipped, so that’s actually pretty good considering the base costs for cards on other sites. And it provides the added convenience of using your phone!

I hope that these few sites will help make your holiday season less stressful and give you more time with your family. I know having a site send my cards does that for me. Any extra time I get to spend with my family during this time is cherished, especially since our newborn is due in less than 11 weeks!!

Merry Christmas from Growing Up Expat. Enjoy the season!
