Happy Labor Day! I’m finally getting to some writing about our travels and today I want to tell you all about visiting and enjoying Disney World while pregnant. You may remember that our pregnancy announcement photo was taken in front of Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom! It was a great day but it was super hot so I’m going to tell you which rides you can enjoy to beat the heat and stay healthy if visiting Disney while pregnant.

Keep Hydrated

We visited Disney World toward the end of my first trimester and I was luckily feeling pretty well by then. But no matter what, it’s always important to stay hydrated. During my pregnancy with Goldilocks I was treated for pre-term labor pains in the labor and delivery unit at just 16 weeks due to dehydration. And that was in the winter when I was doing very little activity. So on one of the hottest days of the year in one of the muggiest places in the U.S. it was very important for me to stay hydrated.

Make sure you bring a reusable water bottle with a carabiner or clip so you can easily carry it all day. There are very few places to refill a water bottle throughout the park (unless your bottle is small enough to fill in the bathroom sink) so I just bought the biggest water bottles I could find and then poured them into my own bottle.

Keep Cool

Visiting Disney World while pregnant means you’re probably even warmer than you normally would be. So you have to keep cool! We brought two of those water bottle sprayers with fans attached to keep us cool throughout the day. I’m really glad we brought these because we expected sprayers to be installed in lines at rides and throughout the park to cool off but we didn’t find any. You can also buy these at the park though I’m sure they are more expensive.

Reserve or plan your lunch break in an air conditioned cafe or restaurant. We did not make lunch reservations and found it difficult to find an air conditioned restaurant that had space for us. But we eventually came upon Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Tomorrowland. It’s a huge cafeteria style restaurant with a great array of foods to suit a whole family’s tastes. We really enjoyed cooling off in there before heading back out into the heat.

Plan Pregnancy Friendly Rides

With a toddler in tow, it’s difficult to ride non-pregnancy friendly rides anyway, but I still wanted to be sure that all the attractions we rode were safe. The Disney World app in the App Store and Google Play store is a great way to plan these rides and your restaurants out ahead of time (remember, you get three free fast passes to use!).

Here are some of my favorite rides that were pregnancy-friendly (and fun for toddlers!):

“It’s a Small World:” This was our first ride of the day and Goldilocks and I both loved it! There were no fast turns or spins involved. Just a leisurely boat ride through the attraction.

“Jungle Cruise:” Our tour guide on our boat was hilarious! This will definitely be a must visit ride when we go back one day.

“Peter Pan’s Flight:” We booked this as one of our fast passes and I’m so glad we did. The long was really long! And for good reason. It was a fun ride for the whole family but actually had some dimension to it that made me feel like I wasn’t just riding it for Goldilocks.

“Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid:” I was actually surprised by how many of the movie themed rides I liked, considering I’m not much of a Disney movie person (SHOCK!!). But this ride was really fun. I enjoyed going through the story of the Little Mermaid with Goldilocks in a safe and easy ride that also got us out of the heat.
